add blog-side to pages

  • Is there a simple way to add the nice right hand sidebar that you find on the blog pages to pages, so the layout of each is the same, so pages also have recent blog posts with excerpts (and “Posts > at the top)?

    Hello there,

    Thank you for asking. In order to achieve that objective, could you please try to do the following?

    1. Install and activate faculty child theme (faculty-child.zip) in your download package
    2. Extract faculty-child.zip in your local drive
    3. Add a new file, and name it as page-sidebar2.php. Paste this code to here (page-sidebar2.php)
    4. Save it in faculty-child folder
    5. Open style.css file, then insert the following CSS code to the most bottom line

    .page-template-page-sidebar2-php .fac-page.home {
      position: absolute !important;
      width: 75% !important;
    }

    @media only screen and (max-width: 770px){
      .page-template-page-sidebar2-php .fac-page.home {
        width: 100% !important;
        height: 100% !important;
      }
    }

    @media only screen and (min-width: 771px){

      .page-template-page-sidebar2-php #hideshow{
        display: none;
      }

    }

    6. Upload those two files trough FTP or cPanel
    7. Go edit your page. In the “Page Attribute” box, select “Page with sidebar (blog alike)” template. See the enclosed attachment.
    8. Lastly, update your page

    I hope I’ve explained myself well.

    Let me know if you have difficulties.

    Regards,
    Kharis

    Awesome, most of the way there, 2 things, the yellow collapse sidebar arrow is missing, and more importantly the text doesn’t word wrap. you can seen it here: https://300m.com/about_me/

    Hello there,

    Thank you for reporting.

    Could you please try to update page-sidebar2.php’s content to this one?

    Please update the previous CSS code to the following.

    .fa-chevron-circle-right:before{
      content: '\f0a9';
    }
    .fa-chevron-circle-left:before{
      content: '\f0a8';
    }

    body.page-template-page-sidebar2-php #blog-content.fac-page.home{
      position: absolute !important;
      width: 75%;
    }

    @media only screen and (max-width: 770px){
      .page-template-page-sidebar2-php .fac-page.home {
        width: 100% !important;
        height: 100% !important;
      }
    }

    Let me know how it works.

    Regards,
    Kharis
